One of the most actively pursued research areas in computer vision is human action recognition (HAR). While this region of study is comprehensively investigated, HAR (human activity recognition) algorithms, including 3D convolutional neural networks (CNNs), two-stream architectures, and CNN-LSTM (long short-term memory) models, are frequently characterized by complicated designs. Real-time HAR applications employing these algorithms necessitate a substantial number of weight adjustments during training, resulting in a requirement for high-specification computing machinery. To address the dimensionality challenges in human activity recognition, this paper introduces a novel technique of frame scrapping, employing 2D skeleton features with a Fine-KNN classifier. The OpenPose technique enabled the retrieval of 2D data. The outcomes obtained strongly suggest the feasibility of our technique. The accuracy of the proposed OpenPose-FineKNN method, enhanced by the extraneous frame scraping technique, reached 89.75% on the MCAD dataset and 90.97% on the IXMAS dataset, exceeding the performance of existing techniques.
Autonomous driving systems integrate technologies for recognition, judgment, and control, utilizing sensors like cameras, LiDAR, and radar for implementation. Recognition sensors, unfortunately, are susceptible to environmental degradation, especially due to external substances like dust, bird droppings, and insects, which impair their visual capabilities during operation. There is a paucity of research into sensor cleaning technologies aimed at mitigating this performance degradation. To assess cleaning rates in select conditions producing satisfactory results, diverse blockage and dryness types and concentrations were employed in this study. The study's analysis of washing effectiveness utilized a washer operating at 0.5 bar/second, air at 2 bar/second, and a threefold application of 35 grams of material to test the LiDAR window's performance. According to the study, blockage, concentration, and dryness stand out as the most significant factors, with blockage taking the top spot, then concentration, and lastly dryness. The investigation also included a comparison of new blockage types, specifically those induced by dust, bird droppings, and insects, with a standard dust control, in order to evaluate the performance of the new blockage methods. This study's findings enable diverse sensor cleaning tests, guaranteeing reliability and cost-effectiveness.
The past decade has witnessed a considerable amount of research dedicated to quantum machine learning (QML). Multiple model designs have emerged to display the tangible applications of quantum principles. The ability of robots to manage objects depends crucially on their possession of stable grasps. Heavy and voluminous objects, when handled by automated large industrial machinery, present a substantial risk of damage and safety issues should an accident occur. Accordingly, the inclusion of proximity and tactile sensing in these large-scale industrial machines can be instrumental in mitigating this issue. We introduce a sensing system for the gripper claws of forestry cranes, enabling proximity and tactile sensing. In order to reduce installation problems, particularly when upgrading existing machines, the sensors are entirely wireless and powered by energy harvesting, promoting self-sufficiency. The sensing elements' connected measurement system uses a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection, compliant with IEEE 14510 (TEDs), to transmit measurement data to the crane automation computer, thereby improving logical system integration. We validate the complete integration of the sensor system within the grasper, along with its ability to perform reliably under demanding environmental conditions. Our experiments assess detection in diverse grasping scenarios, such as grasping at an angle, corner grasping, improper gripper closure, and correct grasps on logs of three different sizes. Due to their affordability, high sensitivity, and clear visual signals (even discernable by the naked eye), colorimetric sensors have achieved widespread use in detecting a diverse range of analytes. Recent years have witnessed a substantial boost in the development of colorimetric sensors, thanks to the emergence of advanced nanomaterials. Innovations in the creation, construction, and functional uses of colorimetric sensors from 2015 to 2022 are the focus of this review. Initially, the colorimetric sensor's classification and sensing methodologies are outlined, then the design of colorimetric sensors using diverse nanomaterials, such as graphene and its variations, metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, DNA nanomaterials, quantum dots, and other materials, is explored. The applications, specifically for the identification of metallic and non-metallic ions, proteins, small molecules, gases, viruses, bacteria, and DNA/RNA, are reviewed. Real-time applications, such as videotelephony and live-streaming, often experience video quality degradation over IP networks due to the use of RTP protocol over unreliable UDP, where video is delivered. The primary contributing factor is the multifaceted impact of video compression methods and their transmission through communication infrastructure. This paper explores how packet loss negatively affects video quality, taking into account diverse compression parameter combinations and screen resolutions. A simulated packet loss rate (PLR) varying from 0% to 1% was included in a dataset created for research purposes. The dataset contained 11,200 full HD and ultra HD video sequences, encoded using H.264 and H.265 formats at five different bit rates. Objective assessment was conducted using peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), while the tried-and-true Absolute Category Rating (ACR) method served for subjective evaluation.
